Wohin geht das Geld?
Das Geld wird von der gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft art4biodiversity gesammelt und an das Projekt Wald des schlechten Gewissens weitergeleitet. 90% fließen in Baumschule und Bewaldung, 10% decken Verwaltungskosten.Warum kostet ein Baum 300 Euro?
Kompensation durch Bewaldung ist populär und wird sehr günstig angeboten. In vielen Fällen ist allerdings nicht nachvollziehbar, ob tatsächlich neue Waldflächen entstehen oder überhaupt Bäume gepflanzt werden. Für den Wald des schlechten Gewissens werden alle Bäume aus zertifizierten Samen in der Baumschule gezogen und die Setzlinge werden intensiv betreut. Im Sommer ist eine zusätzliche Bewässerung notwendig. Nach 2 Jahren werden sie im Rieselfeld ausgepflanzt. Jeder Baum erhält einen eigenen nachhaltigen/kompostierbaren Frasschutz und wird in Hobrechtsfelde bis zu 8 weitere Jahre gepflegt. Allen Menschen vor Ort, die sich der Sache annehmen, zahlen wir faire Löhne.Wie funktioniert die CO2 Kompensationberechnung?
Die Menge an CO2, die ein Baum nach 80 Jahren fixiert hat, hängt von verschiedenen Faktoren ab, wie z.B. der Art des Baumes, dem Standort und den Umweltbedingungen. Wir haben eine grobe Schätzung auf Basis von allgemeinen Durchschnittswerten gemacht und dabei in Betracht gezogen, dass das Baumwachstum auf den Rieselfeldern Berlins aufgrund der Bodenkontamination erschwert sein wird.Warum ist ein Kunstprojekt zur CO2 Kompensation nötig?
Kulturinstitutionen dürfen oftmals keine CO2 Kompensation bezahlen, weil Spenden unzulässig ist, aber Kunst und Kulturprojekte fördern. Unser Wald wird ein öffentlich zugängliches Kunstwerk sein.Was ist reEDOcate me?
260 Jahre lang wirtschaftete das Japan der Edo-Zeit auf Grundlage von Sonnenenergie und erlebte dabei eine beispiellose kulturelle Blüte. Aus der Notwendigkeit zur Reduktion entstanden neue Kulturtechniken und Alltagspraxen. Inspiriert von diesem historischen Modell übersetzt das Projekt reEDOcate me! von Dido Aquilanti, Benjamin Foerster Baldenius, Aljoscha Begrich, Christian Tschirner und Makiko Yamaguchi die Nachhaltigkeitsstrategien der Edo-Zeit in aktuelle Transformationsbedingungen. Where does the money go?
The money is collected by the non-profit entrepreneurial company art4biodiversity and forwarded to the Forest of a Bad Conscience project. 90% goes to the tree nursery and reforestation, 10% covers administrative costs.
Why does a tree cost 300 Euros?
compensation through reforestation is popular and offered very cheaply. In many cases, however, it is not clear whether new forest areas are actually created or whether trees are planted at all. For the forest of guilty conscience, all trees are grown from certified seeds in the tree nursery and the seedlings are intensively cared for. In summer, additional irrigation is necessary. After 2 years they are planted out in the Rieselfeld. Each tree receives its own sustainable/compostable fras guard and is cared for in Hobrechtsfelde for up to 8 more years. We pay fair wages to all local people who take care of it.
How does the CO2 compensation calculation work?
The amount of CO2 a tree has fixed after 80 years depends on various factors, such as the type of tree, the location and the environmental conditions. We made a rough estimate based on general averages, taking into account that tree growth will be more difficult on Berlin's Rieselfeldern due to soil contamination.
Why is this art?
cultural institutions are not officially allowed to pay CO2 compensation, but they are allowed to support art and cultural projects. Our forest will be a publicly accessible work of art.
What is reEDOcate me?
For 260 years, Edo period Japan operated on solar energy and experienced an unprecedented cultural flowering. The need to reduce gave rise to new cultural techniques and everyday practices. Inspired by this historical model, the project reEDOcate me! by Dido Aquilanti, Benjamin Foerster Baldenius, Aljoscha Begrich, Christian Tschirner and Makiko Yamaguchitranslates the sustainability strategies of the Edo period into current transformation conditions. The festival took place october 2022.
